Weekly Kitchen Insights – Recipes and Trends from Allrecipes.com

We’re back in the groove here with 2013’s first post about the top recipes and videos on Allrecipes.com. With the New Year launched—bring on those lucky black-eyed peas!—home cooks are almost ready to consider everyday cooking. When I looked at last week’s top recipes and search terms, both black-eye peas and lasagna topped the list, along with recipes that rank as favorites for entertaining or easy week night dinners.

Here’s the recap:

The #1 new recipe for the week was My Meatball Lasagna. With some pretty delicious ingredients and a twist on a favorite, this recipe quickly had the most page views, prints, and Recipe Box saves.

Top Search Terms Last Week
When it comes to search terms driving week-over-week traffic to Allrecipes, home cooks were all about New Year tradition! The fastest growing term was black-eyed peas, a dish guaranteed to ensure
good luck for the next 365 days!

Other fast-growing search terms driving traffic to the site included cabbage recipes, healthy recipes, Texas caviar, and stir fry recipe.

Once cooks were on the site, the fastest growing internal week-over-week search terms also reflected the New Year, and included black eyed peas, hoppin’ john, sauerkraut, and cabbage.

Top Performing Videos (based on week over week positive change)
When it comes to last week’s top videos, home cooks were all about making kid-friendly ice cream—in a plastic bag no less!—and comfort food. Also hard to argue with a video for 2012’s #1 favorite recipe: Down East Maine Pumpkin Bread. This was the top performer in overall video page views.

Other top videos last week included:
  • Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings, the top performer for page views, excluding all featured content (this metric excludes video detail page views generated by newsletter features, primary nav. features, and/or video homepage features).

  • You’ve seen this one before! How To Cook Salmon, remains our top video based on page views referred directly from a search engine.

I hope 2013 is off to a delicious start for you and your family!
