Midsummer was yesterday on June 21st, and while we’re staring at gray, soggy skies in Seattle, summer must be in full swing elsewhere! That’s because this past week’s recipes were all seasonal favorites. Dishes such as homemade ice cream, pasta salad, seafood and other desserts made the list—the sorts of things I love to eat on a warm summer day! Well, you know what they say in Seattle—summer doesn’t officially start here until July 5th. Until then, we wear polar fleece and carry umbrellas.
I'm Renny, writing this week on behalf of Matt. That's because I know a little more about things like lobster and crab than he does, being from The Great State of Maine. Here’s this week’s recipe overview, which you’ll note includes the first showing for zucchini.
• Grilled Shrimp Caprese was the top new recipe this past week

• Simple Macaroni Salad had the biggest increase in page views

These summer desserts also had lots of eyeballs looking at them: Easy Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream, Key Lime Pie VII, Vanilla Ice Cream V, and Easy Philly Oreo Cheesecake.

Crab cakes, ice cream and pies were all among the top search terms driving traffic last week to Allrecipes.com. Homemade ice cream, along with peach ice cream (delish!), were both among the top search terms, plus apple and blueberry pies and cobblers.
• Homemade ice cream was the #1 internal search term last week
• Pineapple upside-down cake, squash casserole, lobster and peach cobbler rounded out the top 5 internal search terms
You might find lobster on this list a little bit unusual, but it's because it’s hard shell lobster season in Maine, and people there like to eat lobster outside. They also like to eat crab cakes right around now, too. Yum to both! Making me homesick.
Hope your summer has had a hot and delicious start.
