Sweet Success! Allrecipes’ Desserts eCookbook Wins Award

Did you find a tablet or digital reader under your Christmas tree? A lot of us did. And then we went online and bought a zillion ebooks! In the two weeks following Christmas, for 42 of the top 50 titles on USA Today’s Best-Selling Books list, ebooks were the most popular sales format. Overall, ebook sales doubled in the past year—from 10 percent to 20 percent of the market. (Print books still account for 80 percent of sales.) Allrecipes joined the digital books trend a year ago and has published 13 titles since January 2011.

We’re excited to announce one of these eCookbooks—Desserts: 100 Best Recipes from Allrecipes.com—just received a QED Award, the seal of approval from Digital Book World, a professional organization for the ebook industry. These are the first-ever QED Awards! “QED” stands for “Quality, Excellence, Design, and indicates the book has gone through a rigorous 13-point inspection on multiple devices and formats and will look good however you read.” Only 85 ebooks received the Award. Exciting! You can read the complete story here.

I had to download Desserts: 100 Best Recipes from Allrecipes.com for my iPad. Confession: I had a hand in putting this eCookbook together for Allrecipes. I was our ebooks project manager a year ago. It was a lot of fun to sort and select the most popular recipes based on ratings, reviews, comments, and photos from our community of cooks, to write cooking tips based on everyone’s comments and shared practical information. I wanted to make every one! Some of the recipes are irresistible. How about Black Magic Cake or Award-Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies? Or Mrs. Sigg’s Snickerdoodles? Caramel Pecan Pie? The best part for me is having all these fantastic dessert recipes in one collection to browse anytime I wish. Having them accessible on my iPad makes it super easy to cook in the kitchen, too.

Check out the complete collection of Allrecipes’ eCookbooks here, and let us know which are your favorites. All are available for a range of tablets and ereaders. Sweets for the sweet!
