Game Day--Take-Along Apps

With the Super Bowl less than a week away, we’re proud to share a special feature that highlights the very best football food on Allrecipes--we call it Game Day. Seth Kolloen, one of the editors who helped create Game Day, stopped by the blog to give a little tour. 

Game Day--Take-Along Apps

If anyone was eating chicken wings during the first Super Bowl in 1967, they were probably within a five-mile radius of Downtown Buffalo. Now, XLV Super Bowls later, wings are eaten in staggering quantities from coast to coast. If you’re bringing food to a potluck party, wings should be your top choice.

Buffalo wings have come to be one of the biggest winners on Super Bowl Sunday--though we can’t say the same for the Buffalo Bills. Hope you find a wings recipe you enjoy.


TEXAS PEPPER JAM has a recipe for you to try:

Red Fresno Pepper Marinated Football/Scallops Wrapped in Bacon

 1 cup Texas Pepper Jam Red Fresno Dipping Sauce
 12 large sea scallops, halved
 12 slices smoked bacon, halved
 24 toothpicks
 2 tablespoons brown sugar

1. Add scallops to Texas Pepper Jam Red Fresno Dipping Sauce , and toss to coat. Cover bowl with plastic wrap, and marinate at least one hour.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with a sheet of aluminum foil.
3. Arrange bacon pieces on baking sheet so they do not overlap. Bake in preheated oven until some of the grease has rendered out of the bacon; the bacon should still be very soft and pliable, about 8 minutes. Remove bacon from the baking sheet and pat with paper towels to remove excess grease. Drain or wipe grease from the baking sheet.
4. Wrap each scallop piece with a piece of bacon, and secure with a toothpick. Place onto baking sheet. Sprinkle the scallops with brown sugar.
5. Bake in preheated oven until the scallops are opaque and the bacon is crisp, 10 to 15 minutes, turning once. or
